A viral video showing a Colorado Rockies baseball coach in the cabin of a United Airlines charter flight from Denver to Toronto sparked a federal investigation, officials confirmed Friday.

The videoOriginally posted on social media by Rockies hitting coach Hensley Meulens, it appears to show a member of the coaching staff sitting in one of the plane’s two pilot seats as the flight headed to Canada.

“Had some fun in the cabin of our flight from Denver to Toronto,” Meulens wrote in the caption. “Thank you to the captain and first officer of our United charter who allowed me this great experience.”

In the video, the trainer can be heard joking about the plane landing while pretending to take the controls of the plane. At one point in the video, a second member of the coaching staff enters the cabin.

The video has since been removed.

“We are deeply disturbed by what we see in that video, which appears to show an unauthorized person on the flight deck at cruising altitude while autopilot was engaged,” United spokesman Russell Carlton said in a statement sent to via email to the Denver Post on Friday.

Carlton said allowing the trainer into the cabin violated the airline’s safety and operational policies, and the airline reported the incident to the Federal Aviation Administration.

United Airlines removed the pilots from service during the investigation, Carlton said.
