Renton police arrest suspect accused of stabbing woman

Detectives located the knife used in the incident in a recycling bin while investigating the stabbing.






Renton police arrested a 26-year-old woman in connection with an April 11 stabbing that resulted in the hospitalization of a 33-year-old woman who required emergency surgery.

Renton detectives launched an investigation into the stabbing after the 33-year-old woman showed up at Valley Medical Center the night of April 11 with stab wounds to her back, according to the department.

Authorities arrested the 26-year-old woman five days after the incident, at approximately 9:30 p.m. on April 16, and booked her into the Maleng Regional Justice Center for investigation of assault, according to the Department of Adult Detention. and Youth.

Officers responded to Valley Medical Center at 6:24 p.m. after two unknown men dropped off the 33-year-old woman at the hospital. Medics transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center for emergency heart surgery.

Detectives located the knife used in the incident in a recycling bin while investigating the stabbing, which occurred near the intersection of Southwest 4th Place and Maple Avenue Southwest, according to the department.

Detectives obtained additional information from the victim about the attack following her surgery. According to the department, the victim and the 26-year-old woman had a previous confrontation and knew each other. The 33-year-old woman told police that the suspect chased her and stabbed her twice in the back.

Through the investigation, authorities developed probable cause to arrest the suspect for felony first-degree assault and booked her into jail.

Prosecutors had not filed charges against the 26-year-old woman as of April 17, and her first appearance has yet to be determined.
