LANSING (WWJ) – Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. will appear on Michigan ballots this November, his campaign announced Thursday.

Kennedy and his running mate, Nicole Shanahan, were nominated by the Natural Law Party in Michigan, which filed all the necessary paperwork with the state, officially gaining access to the ballot.

Kennedy is scheduled to perform the comedy show “A Night of Laughter” at the Royal Oak Theater on Sunday to “celebrate his ballot access victory.” Rob Schneider will be among the comedians at the event.

His campaign says Michigan “proved to be one of the closest swing states” in this year’s presidential election, a recent Times/Siena poll of six key battlegrounds put the independent candidate at 26% in Michigan, a single digit lead.

He also gained ballot access in Utah and has collected enough signatures to be on the ballots in New Hampshire, Nevada, Hawaii, North Carolina, Idaho, Nebraska and Iowa, according to his campaign.

Kennedy announced last month that lawyer and technology entrepreneur Nicole Shanahan would be his vice presidential running mate.

Kennedy’s campaign says he and Shanahan “are committed to restoring the middle class, ending the chronic disease epidemic, dismantling the war machine, and disrupting corporate capture of our government agencies.”
