Moore County HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) made a splash at the state competition recently held in Chattanooga with a group punching its ticket to the national competition in Houston, Texas, this summer.

HOSA, also called HOSA – Future Health Professionals, is an international organization of technical and professional students supported by the U.S. Department of Education and Health Sciences Technology Education. They offer competitions for schools in various fields of study. The recent Chattanooga event was attended by hundreds of contestants representing HOSA clubs from across the region.

According to health sciences advisor Brittany Hise, during the Chattanooga competition, Moore High School’s health education team took second place and will go to Nationals in Houston, Texas, in June.

Team members include Jenny Sanders, Lucy Cashion, Reason Brown and Brooklyn Hernandez. (Ashlee Parks and Jillian Scherff worked as part of the group but were unable to attend state.)

The High School Community Awareness group placed 4th and will advance to Nationals if anyone in the top 3 decides not to go. Their focus was anti-vaping.

Its members include Madison Thomas, Destiny Lumbley, Tyler Nix and Lexi Duarte.
